PSP mempunyai System operasi (nand flash) yang di tanam di dalam board PSP tersebut. beberapa sistem operasi dengan versi- tertentu dengan varian-2nya, misalkan 3.90-M33, 5.00-m33, etc.. sistem operasi versi yang tertinggi tahun 2010 saat ini adalah 6.20. sistem versi ini berada di PSP GO, dan bisa di install di PSP 2000 juga. dan PSP 3000. PSP 3000 memuat versi yang agak rumit, misalkan jika di cabut battere tidak normal, atau habis batere waktu main game, maka sistem operasi tersebut langsung corrupted, hingga tidak bisa melihat file-2/main game lagi, dan harus di update sistem kembali.. konsultasikan kepada penjual PSP 3000 game ini untuk jadikan permanen sistemnya, lain halnya dengan PSP 2000 ini bisa bertahan jika habis battere, atau batere cabut tanpa merusak file game yang di dalam.
PSP 2000 terdapat 2 model/tipe yaitu PSP 2000 Phat/Fat atau PSP 2000 Slim. PSP phat/Fat ini adalah yang terdahulu dan memang agak tebal di bagian batere, bandingkan dengan PSP 2000 slim, sangat berbeda bberapa Inch ketebalannya.
Sistem operasi di install di PSP 2000 terkadang tidak bisa di kembalikan ke awal, versi 6.20 adalah PSP GO, dan game-2 yang lama/ atau lawas tidak bisa di mainkan di versi ini, hanya UMD (universal Media Disc) saja, misalkan PSP 2000 diinstallasi ke versi 6.20 dan mau di downgrade “diturunkan” versinya ke 5.20 atau ke 3.90m33, itu perlu installasi khusus dan tidak sembarang untuk menurunkan versi tersebut. berikut adalah keterangannya.
PSP 2000 versi 6.20 ingin turunkan/downgrade ke 3.90/ 5.00? atau ke beberapa versi? pertama anda bisa membeli batere Pandora (1) – dan menyediakan Memory magic stick sebesar 1gb (2) atau lebih. Setelah mendapatkan Pandora Batere, lakukan untuk memformat memory stick 1gb tsb di PSP (3) dahulu (sebelum di rubah), gunakan,sediakan kabel data PSP ke komputer. (4).
Download the file exe, cari di google, kunci “rains ultralite” (5) atau dari website www.deedaad.com download dan mekarkan pakai unzip. maka terdapat beberapa file untuk download file rains ultralite 5.00, tempatkan di suatu folder. siapkan 1 sampai 4 items tersebut dengan langkah : (a) hubungkan PSP dan komputer, USB mode.Gunakan kabel data dan yang pasti memory stick 1Gb tersebut sudah di dalam PSP tsb. (b) jalankan Rains Ultralite, ( c ) pastikan Drive letter memory PSP ada di situ jangan C drive. ( d ) tekan perintah/button “make MMS”. jangan centang “format….”, dan Rains Ultraliite akan memproses memory magic stick. sampai selesai. (e) cabut unplug kabel /safely remove untuk PSP kabel datanya yang terhubung ke komputer. (f) cabut baterai sony aslinya, ambil pandora batere, (g) tangan kiri anda menekan tombol L1 terus, dan masukan batere pandora ke tempatnya tanpa penutup biarkan saja, karena pandora ini agak besar, dan longgar, jadi anda harus memegang terus, perhatikan Indikator batere menyala(power) sewaktu anda masukan pandora dan pada saat bersamaan akan terdapat indikator memory juga menyala, tidak lama kemudian, muncullah Perintah anda harus memilih untuk installasi firmware 5.00, tekan X untuk process installasi sistem baru 5.00. dan tunggu sampai 100% completed.
Jika sudah complete 100%, Cabut memory stick, dan shutdown PSP dan ganti memory stick dengan biasanya game yang anda bisa gunakan
pada step 100% completed, anda mempunyai PSP yang sudah di downgrade dari 6.20 ke 5.00. complete sudah.
